Tired of a world where emotion is held back and femininity has been demeaned, For the Love of… founder Kristina Libby strives to embrace the joys of feeling beautiful. At age 25, Libby left her job in corporate America to pursue her dream of providing a product that would touch other women’s lives, even in a small way. Calling upon past experiences as both a florist and model, Libby designed the For the Love of… line with the idea that while beauty may come in all shapes and sizes, every woman should have a signature secret that makes them feel beautiful. Nourishing the soul is as important as feeding the mind, and For the Love of … products provide an affordable escape for women of all ages.
Libby uses products from her home state of Maine and from her travels around the world. Blueberry seeds are inspired by her youth, the orange peel by a trip to Spain, the fragrances by a few soul-searching trips in Costa Rica, and the tuberose and sandalwood from a last-minute flight to Cartagena, Colombia. Her hope is to eventually import products from communities around the world and use the funds from the sale of those products to create clean bathing water funds and micro-credit loans for that community.

What is For the Love of…?
For the Love of… is a whimsical adventure in bathing. It’s a company that sells bath products while calling for women to indulge in themselves and to do so without harming their skin, the planet or the community.
The product line of bath salts, milk baths, body scrubs, lotions, perfumes and soaps encourages indulgence as a means of reclaiming our femininity. In a world where people are constantly caught in the rat race, where they forget themselves for family, husbands, and friends, where women forget beauty in the face of looking corporate, For the Love of… products allow women to claim a few minutes to indulge in their whimsical desires. A bath is the time to day dream, the time to renew and the time to re-create your sense of self. Our bath products provide soft scents and extreme nourishment from organic ingredients to ensure that each bather will leave the bath refreshed, nourished and ready to take on the world.
Why Care about For the Love of…?
For the Love of… is a natural body product company with a triple bottom line mission. Our goal is to make a great product and service while also having minimal environmental impact and an aggressive social mission. All of our products contain only organic ingredients and meet the standards for organic certification. Our products are also all packaged in recycled and reusable containers. Even our labels are created using a mass printing process which ensures minimal environmental waste.
We have also taken the company a step further in this commitment and donate 5% of our profits to charitable causes. The corporate goal is that by the year 2011, we will be able to donate 10% of revenue to causes of our choice. These causes are chosen because they do one of three things—they support women in micro-credit operations, they support women in the arts or they support community farming.
The goal of For the Love of… and, something we have already actively undertaken, is to match our source suppliers with our charitable giving. Therefore, as the company travels the world looking for organic products, we can also give back to the community whose products we purchase. In a recent travel to Colombia, I came across a small organic farm that creates perfume oils. I’m currently in the process of figuring out with the farm owners how to have a portion of perfume sales go directly to the farming community.
Who is For the Love of…?
For the Love of… is Kristina Libby, an ambitious driven 25 year old entrepreneur, by accident. Kristina has an MA in International Security and a passion for all things beautiful. After realizing that 9-5 corporate life made her miserably unhappy, she began to bandy around ideas for what would make her happy. On the train back from NYC, Kristina remarked to her boyfriend, at the time, that she would “start a business”. His scepticism sparked her desire. At first, her go-to product was soaps. Unfortunately, in soap making alone she found no real passion. The passion instead came from creating lotions, body scrubs and salts and talking to people about her love of bathing and organic beauty.
Now armed with 10 years of bath product making experience (thanks to girl’s nights in with Mom), professional experience in social media, business entrepreneurship and community building, Kristina has launched For the Love of… to sell bath products and to discuss with people the products she loves, the skin care techniques she learned as a former model, the floral knowledge gained as an amateur florist and her love of whimsical adventure (in bathing or otherwise).
